The apprenticeship
How you get in
In New Mexico you can join a union carpenters apprenticeship (usually 3 to 4 years, paid, minimal cost) or learn under an experienced contractor on the job. My honest advice, the same I give every young tradesman: work for a good contractor first and learn how a well-run operation does things before you go out on your own.
